The Satyam scam left global IT industry confused and shocked! Apart from the slide it caused in the Indian stock markets, it also leaves the future of it’s 50,000+ employees under uncertainty! Amidst all this confusion, Mr. Ramalinga Raju surrenders himself to the Hyderabad Police one fine day. People think that it’s because of his conscience that he did this, the letters which he wrote to various authorities were the icing on the cake, which made it look like Mr. Raju was repenting for his misdeeds. But I have a few deductions to make out of the whole surrender drama, which can answer the following questions..

  1. Why did he surrender?
  2. Why did he accept his mistake of forging and inflating the figures?
  3. why did he not attend the SEBI inquiry before his surrender to the Hyderabad Police?

Well well… my conclusions are as follows….

This whole scam is a global scam, not restricted to Andhra Pradesh or India, but spread to various other countries like The U.S.A. Soon there would be cases on Mr. Raju for forgery, and it would not be long before he would be extradited to those countries, where he faces the risk of being imprisoned till death!! But clever Mr. Raju, used a loop hole in the extradition policy to save his ass!! This loop hole states that, no person, wanted by other nation for his crimes, can  be extradited if he has been imprisoned in India for his crimes in his home country!! And we all know India is a place where people can easily escape laws and punishments!

And now, the question of accepting the crime… Why did he do that? Was that some act of nobility? The answer is a big NO. The whole point comes back to SEBI and its laws, which also have some loop holes. These laws say that any person who is found guilty by the laws of SEBI, can be pardoned and no punishment will be awarded if he accepts his crime! Ha!! There goes the second act to save his royal ass!!

Well the final question now. Why didn’t he go to the SEBI inquiry at Mumbai? The answer is simple, he was fearing an arrest there! So its better to get arrested in Hyderabad and use his connections to get royal treatment in the AP state’s Jails, rather than sit in a Mumbai jail and spend his rest of the life cribbing! Our Indian Laws are truly JUST.. they do justice even to the guilty, they see to it that the guilty ones are not punished more than they deserve! So there is this law, which states that, a person cannot be put under trial in two courts, for the same crime! So, now even if the SEBI guys lodge a case against Mr. Raju in Mumbai, he wont have to go to Mumbai for the trial.

That’s a well planned and a clever drama. We are very lucky that we are witnessing such a thing in our lifetime!!!! Thank you Mr. Raju, for taking our markets down and tainting us with a ‘never seen before’ scandal. You have done a very good show and now you are our daily source of entertainment!!!

Into The Wild

December 27, 2008

Well well… finally a post on a movie that I liked!

I was really bored with the regular movies and needed a really nice one to watch… the commercial ones were starting to piss me off!

Then, one lazy hour at bangalore..when I was going through Ashraf’s movie folder, I found this..

into-the-wildIts the real life story of   Christopher McCandless, who is a graduate freshly out from the Emory University. His parents have big plans for him, but he doesnt give any one a clue that he’s gonna leave all that belonged to him and live a nomadic life for the rest of his life on a false name of Alexander Supertramp. He goes around several places and spends his life among a variety of people, whom he inspires unknowingly….. everybody likes this nomad boy Supertramp. His choice of life and nature over mundane worldly belongings sort of makes people feel good to be associated with him.

But nobody knows the real name or story of Alex, where his parents were…why he chose such a life? On the other side, his parents were worrying about him, what made him go away, though his sister knew that he was doing a book of .it was a mystery to his parents, who didnt realise that it was because of their greed for money, fights over worldly belongings and even thinking of ending their marriage!

The movie is more interesting than what I tell you guys here…The whole story revolves around his trip to Alaska where he spends the fall..all alone. It would have been more difficult for him if he hadn’t found the MAGIC BUS, an abandoned bus-turned caravan…which has everything that we have at home..everything except food, wate and fuel. As the days pass by, Supertramp loses weight due to the lack of food..there is one scene in which he suceeds to kill a moose, but fails to preserve it, the maggots that are shown flourishing on the rotting meat infact gave me a feeling that they are eating their way through Supertramp’s confidence to survive. Ultimately when he starts eating herbs , finding out which one is edible and which one is not from a book that he has, he does a grave mistake of consuming wild sweet pea mistaking it to be wild potato alaska carrot. This scene is very moving… then the movie concludes slowly showing how he suffers for several days before his death! The scene in which he prepares to die is very touching, I had a lump in my throat….but I never cried..for the whole movie had made me stronger!! If the same scene was shown as a part of some other movie..I would have cried my heart out!!

In the end Alexander Supertramp carves his true name ” Christopher Jhonson McCandless” and writes in one of the books

“HAPPINESS ONLY REAL WHEN SHARED”

I suggest that each and everyone of those who is reading this post should watch the movie atleast once!

Popat!

December 10, 2008

Hmmmm… Its been long since I pondered over my intermediate college days!! I usaually hated that part of my life coz there was too much foolish competetion and we were compelled to study to compete with others fools like me, aiming for the I.I.T.’s! Those two years of my life I really want them back. But there were some good things too, one of which is getting exposed to different types of people. One of such person who randomly came to my mind the other day was “Popat”!!!old_man-best-small

Popat was this old guy who was appointed the peon of my college. He was 60+ , dressed in formals with the shirt tucked in and trousers short in length. He was wearing “Hawai chappal”. The whole point…. he’s a old retired guy who was delighted to have the job. Nobody knew his name. Some one called him Popat , and everyone followed the suit. People were making fun of the way he was dressed and the sincerity with which he does his job. The students thought he was a perfect entertainment, a jester at the college! I joined the band wagon initially, but slowly I started realising that I was making fun of his “Majboori”… he had to take all that shit from us because he had to feed his family back at home! For, it was the only chance he’s got, his only job, the only way to feed his hungry family. Who would take an old, weak , retired guy when they can get a young and strong person to do the same job for a lower wage? But who cared then? We all wanted to make fun of him.. humiliate him and flush his ego down the drains!!

I still repent for being a part of that senseless mob which never cared about peoples feelings or integrity!!!

Are We Human Enough?

November 20, 2008

Well well! Am I human enough? Are you human enough? Lets find out!!!

To find the answer for the above question, I would like to share a few experiences of mine . Here goes the first one..

staring-at-infinity

It was a rainy afternoon and I took my dad’s scooter to ride it for fun. I was a bit scared coz I was in my 10 th grade and yeah I dint have a license. After 15 minutes of blissful ride on the roads with a friend, I was brought to my senses by a big sound of a crash! No it wasn’t me who crashed, it was a couple whose vehicle skid over the wet slippery roads. All the vehicles on the road had stopped, except mine. I was so damn scared of the cops who were approaching the accident spot, what if they caught me without a license? I drove my vehicle onto the pavement to go home soon! But amidst all this panic and confusion, my friend was shocked at what I was doing! “Wait! We’ve gotta help the injured!” for which I refused outright… My friend got down the scooter and proceeded to help them….

The second incident…

It was an calm afternoon on some national holiday in March ‘08. I boarded a bus home from my friend’s place. I have to get down the moving bus to avoid a half kilometer walk, so I was waiting on the foot board for the bus to slow down a bit…. Then I saw a man walking in the opposite direction. There was something peculiar about this man! He was staggering a bit and walking at a retarded pace. I thought he must have been drunk! I got down the bus and started walking home. Dunno what made me look back, but I turned back to see what that man was doing. I was shocked to see that the stranger was on the ground, having an epileptic seizure or “fits” as some people may call it. I looked around to find other pedestrians and motorists passing by, as if nothing was happening!!! I wondered if I should help him or not, I remembered the incident way back in my 10Th grade, I was ashamed of what I did then, its time now to act appropriately! I approached the man, held his hand and looked into his eyes giving him a reassuring look.I didn’t know what to do,to stop the seizure! Many on goers stopped by to throw a look, and finally my efforts weren’t in vain. Some of them came forward to assist me [:)]. I dialled 108 and waited till the man was safely put on a stretcher in the ambulance! He couldnt talk, to thank me or the others, all he did was stare back into my eyes, thankfully!!

I can never forget that look, it always makes me feel good about helping people out. Who knows some day I could have an accident and might be bleeding to death on the road waiting for someone to help me. I’m sure there will be someone to hold my hand and give me a reassuring look, telling me that i’d be okay once the ambulance arrives! Even if I die the very next moment I’d be happy that a stranger, whom i didnt know my entire life, was trying to help me out! I guess this is what they call HUMANITY!

Now the question is are you human enough? Will you be the one to hold my hand and stare into my eyes when i’m about to die???

GOD????

November 1, 2008

Well for all those who are confused, this might be of some help. Initially I used to wonder whether is there really something called as GOD that exists, If yes where is he. Why cant i see him like i see other people or other things in this world? Why can’t I feel it’s presence? Well some people say there is a God, though it was difficult for me to understand what is God. I might be a narrow minded fool as people may call me, to question the mere existence of god. I tried out all the literature that i could find to find if god real or not, but with no luck what so ever. Well the ancient literature says that there are different kinds of gods. Different religions say there is a  god based on their literature, but what the heck? With due respect to all religions and their practitioners, i can’t stop myself having a weird notion that people might think “Harry Potter” is a god after a couple of centuries because, all they find is literature and nobody to tell them that its just a novel.

There are many notions in my mind that question the existence of the supreme being. I see many god fearing people around me, who have done very less sins when compared to me, and yet they still suffer. Why do people die? Why do they have diseases? Why do they have problems that make their lives miserable? Where is the so called god that they believe in? Why can’t he pull them out of troubles? After all they are all his followers, his best creation, his “children”. The answer is “There is no god, He is just a creation of yours”.

Now the question arises, why do people have to create god? The answer is simple, if my little human brain doesn’t know how things in this world happen, I assume it to be done by a supernatural force called god. You have an exam tomorrow, you have been horrible at that subject since ages, you don’t get good grades no matter how hard you study, then you don’t value your efforts to master the subject. For any other person who’s observing you it looks like you have been studying pretty hard so you will definitely get good grades this time. But you, by seeing your past record think that no one but a supernatural power called GOD can help you out. Just before taking the exam You pray to that god whom you have created in your mind to ease your tensions, and start. Surprisingly you get good grades this time, You will be over whelmed and think that its god that helped you out. But being a fool you don’t realise that it was there in you from the beginning, all you needed to do was concentrate a bit and study the subject properly. Out of fear of failing yet once again, you do it this time without even you knowing it, and the result is great. We fools think that its not us, its the god’s work.

This was just an example why you can tell that “God is man’s greatest creation”.After all if we don’t have faith in our capabilities, we try to put our faith in something that many people say will help you out.
